COURSE OVERVIEW |

In this course we will explore the model of blended learning and dive into key issues that help teachers to move from traditional face-to-face (f2f) learning to blended learning (BL). We will study the stages of the Backward design for BL courses development, consider strategies to incorporate active learning into online, discuss active learning approaches and appropriate web 2.0 services for promoting active learning. By the end, our goal is to prepare one of the Unit’s of your own course in a Blended format given what you have learned throughout the training. |

COURSE STRUCTURE |

Each week you will be asked to watch webinars, participate in f2f classes, read required readings, actively participate in discussion forums, and complete assignments. Additionally, you will complete peer assessments on some assignments. Week 1 – Blended learning models: the secrets of effectiveness. Introduction: team building, netiquette questions Week 2 – Designing student learning outcomes Week 3 – Developing course assessment plan for student learning outcomes Week 4 – Active learning strategies for online environment Week 5 – Designing rubrics Week 6 – Integrating face-to-face and online activities Week 7 – Final work: Creating the Teaching Unit |
