The submodule “Electric Machines and Drives” is an electronic course based on Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (MOODLE) intended for students who need English language skills for specialist purposes. It provides a sound basis for the study of electric machines and drive systems. Moreover, it ensures complete motivation through interesting and enjoyable language activities and tasks that are developed by means of interactive media and multimedia technologies. This electronic course may be used independently, or as a course for classroom study.
This submodule contains 5 UNITS: Arrangement of Drive System; Electric Motors; Power Electronics; Drive Systems; Control &Automation System. Each unit follows the same unit structure and provides practice tasks in Reading, Use of English, Listening, Writing and Speaking. Each unit is organized around a central topic, which is then explored from a variety of different viewpoints. Such MOODLE recourses as text- and web pages, journal, insert a label, chat, forum, quiz, link to a website, Webinar and Wiki are widely used in the given course. The recorded material contains exercises for language consolidation and sections for listening practice. This course has also a reference section with glossary, that contains essential vocabulary for every topic. Glossary gives the most widespread terms with their definitions.
This submodule offers such possibilities as mutual interaction between a student and an instructor, and exchange of information by means of computer technologies.
